favorite past times

Emmeline loves her swing from her great-grandma "Gugs" We feel very lucky that Emmie will know 7 of her great grandparents. We think she met her 8th great grandpa Ralph Marsden in heaven before she was born.

Bath time is a traumatic experience for Emmie. I guess it is pretty intrusive! But as soon as I turn on the faucet to rinse off her hair, she relaxes every muscle and is perfectly content. She must feel that she is back in the womb!

2 weeks old!

Cute as a button! Our dear Emmie turned 2 weeks old today. She had her first outing to the doctor's office this morning. I was grateful Grannie Jyl came with me as it was a new experience for me to leave the house as a mommy!

Emmie is definitely her daddy's girl as the mornings are not her favorite. We had to wake her up to take her to the doctor's. We were so happy to find out that she now weighs 7 lbs 12 oz, a whole pound more than when she was born. She loves her mommy's milk! Every thing else looked good at her checkup. Emmeline was so brave and didn't even cry when the doctor was probing her.

We know that Emmie is not deprived of kisses!

Definitely a daddy's girl.

She loves that silly little binky from the hospital. She won't take any other one. She was giving Jon some great looks the other day while they were spending some daddy-daughter time together.

Uncle Mitchie comes over for lunch some days as he has some time between classes at the U. He helped me bathe her the other day. She was relieved to be wrapped up in his arms after it was all done.

I love visitors! Charley, Rachael and John brought me lunch the other day. I was so excited for Charley to meet Emmie. I couldn't believe how big Charley is now. I swear she was just a little baby 3 weeks ago! Charley was so cute with the baby. She even started crying when the baby cried.

"Gra-Mare" loves her little grandbaby. Emmie was so content with Grandma. She sat so still in her arm for a couple of hours. I think she recognizes Grandma's voice from when she was in the womb.

Uncle Lukie came to meet his niece. We are excited for Luke to be an Uncle to our kids.

Mariah and Doug came from Provo to visit us. Before they know it, they will be posing with their own kids! They will be great parents. We are so grateful for all our friends and family who have come to visit us and bring us gifts. We couldn't be more blessed.

one week old!!

This is our dear little Emmeline as a one week old babe. We couldn't be happier as her parents. I meant to post this on Friday and it is now Monday. Where do the days go? The life of a new mother is very new for me! Someone put it this way: "You'll work all day as a mom and all you have to show for it at the end of the day is a happy baby!" Well we sure are blessed as Emmie has already seemed to be a very content little girl.

Emmie is looking at mommy! We took our first family photo at our house. It feels so good to be at home after the long weekend in the hospital.

Emmie's great grandma "Gugs" gave her this soft white beanie that drowns her little head! However, Emmie is already starting to get a little pudgy in her cheeks.

Doing what they both do best!!!

Emmeline Shae is here!
What a wild ride this has been! Emmeline Shae Featherstone was born on October 12th, 2007 at 1:40 p.m. She is 6 lb. 15 oz, and 20 in. long. Both mom and baby are doing great. We are truly blessed. Let's introduce you to the newest member of the Featherstone fam.

15

This is our little girl just a few minutes after she was born. She did so great during the labor process.

14

Right after she was born, they put her up on momma and got a little oxygen to her. She looks pretty good for having gone through a 10 cm little space. One of the first things that we were able to see was all of her beautiful brown hair. Little foxy brunette just like her mamma.

13

Would you look this good if you had gone through intense labor for 12 hours un-medicated??? My wife is an amazing person. She has so much faith and was strengthened so much during a truly traumatizing time. (she says that she wouldn't recommend natural childbirth to anyone... what were we thinking?)

12

The proud parents.

11

Here's our little girl after her bath. Sometimes the fathers go in and witness this moment, but I was completely knackerd, so I stayed back with mom. Isn't she beautiful?

10

Here's first time Grandma and Aunt. They weren't excited at all to hold this baby. This little girl doesn't have a chance, they will completely spoil her.

9

Here's first time Grandpa. We were thinking about calling him "Grandpa Joe" like on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will see.

7

Of course Papa and Granny Jyl came to meet grandbaby number 6.

Uncle Jaymer!!!!

5

Aunt Shelb, Uncle Parker, Uncle Hizzle.

We love the Mow-Hawk. We didn't think that she would have so much hair. Thank goodness she got her mom's hair genes.

This is Emmie sleeping back at home in her little basonet. (thanks Uncle Juan and Aunt Rach)

Some sweet nap time with Dad. I love my little girl.

Family Home Evening Activity

Jon and I learned how to strap in our baby giraffe last night in anticipation for the real baby! We figured we should know everything we can about our new car seat. We decided to make it a family home evening activity. I didn't have a doll or any kind of stuffed animal with hands and feet. However, the giraffe worked just fine, even with its long neck! We are now ready to drive our little girl home from the hospital.
